Welcome to the PROTOTYPE Memorize-the-Bible.com Verse Recognition App
Which mode would you like?
Prototype developed by Dean Brown of Memorize-The-Bible.com with programming and dataset assistance from Grok 4.5 (xAI).
Simple: whole Bible, plain text, simple right/wrong scoring, whole-Bible distractors, passages of any difficulty. You still choose session length and quiz direction. Advanced unlocks the other filters.
Advanced filters
Easier restricts the pool to the most widely known passages by fame rank (top 200 / 300 / 400 / 600). This is combined strictly with your scope: if fewer than 4 passages match both, the session will not start—widen the scope or choose a larger easier set or any difficulty.
Choose the whole Bible, major sections, individual books, a curated sub-section, or recent Daily Chapter chapters.
Simple quizzing always uses plain text.
Default uses the full pool. Single-verse only uses cards that are exactly one verse (e.g. John 3:16). Multi-verse only uses cards that span two or more verses (e.g. John 3:16–17).
You can stop any session at any time. Custom time uses the amount you enter.

Each answered question is one step. Random heading, when chosen, is rolled separately for every answer. The quicker-return box doubles that answer’s turn when you are off the path and answer correctly. There is no separate session length: walk until you reach the gate or tap End Session.
This game is a lighthearted way to do some serious work: practicing verse recognition while you walk.
It is loosely built around a purposely misspelled variation of the way Jesus speaks of in Matthew 7:13–14. Most people hear that saying as a “straight and narrow path,” and that is what the game portrays—a road that runs straight on toward a gate.
What the King James Version actually says is the “strait” and narrow way. Strait here does not mean straight. It means tight, confined, difficult to enter: “strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life.”
So enjoy the walk. Answer as well as you can, keep to the path if you are able, and set your face toward the kingdom.
